We would like to invite the ENTIRE EV community and alumni to read a book with us. We’ve named the project EVeryONE Reads and it will kick off on September 18, 2023.
All of our classrooms will be reading aloud from the same book on the same days during the activity.
We also have community partners who have pledged to read the book! Some of our community partners include the North English Public Library, Valley View Assisted Living, English Valley Care Center, Iowa County Conservation, and our list keeps growing. (Let us know if your business or organization will join in the fun and encourage reading!)
Why should you participate in an all-community read? To promote literacy; intergenerational book-centered discussion; and to foster a sense of community by bringing people together through a shared literature experience.
The book we have chosen is The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. It's the story of a robot named Roz and her struggle to survive on a remote, wild island. As it turns out, Roz doesn't just survive, she adapts, and learns to communicate with the wildlife, and then she develops animal friends and even a family.
The kickoff is September 18th and we’ll be sharing a reading calendar so everyone will know which chapters to read on which dates!
