Silver Cord Program English Valleys High School
The purpose of the English Valleys Silver Cord Program is to promote an understanding of civic responsibility and community pride. In addition, the program offers a venue to recognize students who go above and beyond in investing in their community.
Students who complete 100 hours of community service by March 31 of their graduation year will wear a silver cord at graduation. Students must have completed a minimum of 20 hours each year to qualify. A student may begin as a sophomore, but will need to complete 125 hours total by March 31 of his or her senior year.
Students participating in the Silver Cord Program will submit a log to the school counselor each semester. Hours for an academic year will be from June 1 to May 31 for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors, and from June 1 to March 31 for Seniors.
