Guidance

https://www.iowacollegeaid.gov/content/should-you-take-act-or-sat?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery When planning for college and beyond, it can be hard for students and families to find trustworthy resources on the internet. This page contains resources offered by Iowa College Aid and our partners which students can trust when planning the next phase of their life.

Start Here, Go Places
This student site is packed with information about what it takes to be a CPA and what students can do now to start on their path to becoming one.  There are articles, games, interviews with real CPA's, videos -- even a magazine.

ICAN
The Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) is a helpful resource for parents and students.  ICAN addresses everything from college and career planning to preparing the FAFSA.  Please, take a look at the Countdown Calendars for Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.  Additional information is on display on the bulletin board outside my office.  For a more detailed look at the information as services provided by ICAN, please visit their website:  www.ICANsucceed.org.

Guidelines for Students From ICAN

  • The 2017-2018 FAFSA will be completed using 2016 tax information. You DO NOT have to wait until 2017 taxes are done. You can start right away on October 1.
  • The 2017-2018 FAFSA needs to be completed BEFORE the school's financial aid priority date. Each school has their own deadline!! Find your school's deadline by clicking here. Many schools have changed their priority dates so it's important to check.
  • The University of Iowa and Iowa State University have a December 1 priority date. The University of Northern Iowa has a January 15 priority date.
